Outreach
We are a Community that Makes a Difference!

At St. Peter’s, we share a passion for helping others in our community and throughout the world. The Service Committee is the ministry that coordinates support (time, talent, and monies) to organizations outside the Parish. We assist a number of programs designed to help those in need and further the mission of the Christian church. The committee evaluates the needs of these external organizations to determine where our monetary contributions should be focused. In addition, the Service Committee liaison works with the Service Committee Chair and the members of the Service Committee to research external organizations which the St. Peter's congregation can support. With the approval of the Vestry, the committee distributes funds, allocated from the operating budget, to these external organizations.

The Service Committee also serves as a resource for identifying service projects for the Parish. Weekly food drives, collections of materials for homeless shelters, blood drives and delivering gifts at Christmas to families in need are just a few of the ways we offer other gifts for those in need.

For 2011, St Peter’s has set aside $15,350 or 4% of our operating budget, to support the following organizations and charitable purposes:

  • Project Host
  • Haiti Children's Scholarship
  • Haiti Pump Operator - Cange
  • United Ministries
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Greenville Free Medical Clinic
  • Partner's In Health
  • Michael’s Way
  • Bread and Water
  • Partner’s in Health
  • Episcopal Relief and Development
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Pendleton Place
  • Juvenile Diabetes

There are many ways you can support our efforts, whether you have time, talent, or monetary contributions. We are always looking for new ideas and volunteers. The Chair of the Service Committee is listed on the back of the weekly bulletin. Contact them for more information.
